Bible Studies, Setting Intentions and Lucid Dreaming

Since shortly after my last post back in September last year I have been investing more time in reading the Bible. I initially started with the Old Testament, progressing slowly as I researched and meditated on the real meaning of the names and places and the states of consciousness they represent.  In February of this year I had got as far as Noah. Then I remembered what Neville had said about the key being given us in the New Testament and so I decided to start reading that. I started with John but quite rapidly I started getting inspired to delve into specific parts. This inspiration came from different sources, the latest to date being while watching the film "Jackie".

I will be posting about my findings, and where watching the film "Jackie" led me, in more detail in the not too distant future but for now I can say that my understanding has deepened more than I could have imagined and I see the world at large, including current events, a lot differently than before. That doesn't mean that I no longer react to things but it happens less and less, I understand why it happens, I know what to do to move into a different state if I find the one I've let myself fall into is unpleasant, and of course I can revise it.

At the same time I have been amping up on intention setting, revision, and meditation as well as practising lucid dreaming and testing other Neville based practices.

Although I haven't had a fully lucid dream like the spontaneous one I had back in 2004, it has produced some interesting results so I intend to continue practising. The practices for inducing lucid dreams complement, when they are not the same as, the Neville based practices and lucid dreams hold great promise. Not just for doing fun things that are not (at least not for me, yet) possible on this level but also for exploring the depth of one's being. I'll share more about that in the future but if you're interested then you can find some basic information for beginners on Tim Ferriss's blog. A Google search should also produce plenty of information and Mindvalley has a 6-week course which I found very powerful. I intend to go through the materials again as, as a professional teacher of English as well as an eternal student, I know the importance of repetition for learning and I know from experience that I'll hear or read something I missed previously or I'll get a deeper understanding of something previously heard.

My intention setting is usually done by writing my intentions for the next day/weekend/etc. in a notebook. All is written in the past tense and dated the end of the period of time in question. In other words from the end.

2 weeks ago I experienced some interesting results of some recent thinking and imagining/praying combined with setting an intention. Here is the intention:

Well before resuming my reading the next afternoon I had to process what had happened that morning. You will be able to read all about that in my next post :)
